This research project was one of my favorites even though it required a lot more work because I had to schedule a zoom meeting with Joselyn on a day she was free but I have class. I learned a lot more than I expected and realized that the injustice was not only affecting a few people but a good part of our community. Every single immigrant has a different story but shares some common issues such as being undocumented and that is a constant battle in the US as they get different treatment even while working for the benefit of the country itself. I am not undocumented, but I feel bad every time I hear a story of one, it shouldn’t be like that because I know they are running from something in their home country and just like any other legal residents here they are looking for a better life because their home country is unable to give that life to them. I had a hard time starting this paper because I didn’t know where to start and include only the necessary sentences from the interview. I had to schedule countless meetings with the writing center by going to the office or via phone because my new Baruch password doesn’t allow me to do anything but I am proud for finishing it and share my piece on this sensitive topic.
